Hi everyone, my name is Maiya Lewis, the proud 2024 Miss Vigo County Fair Queen. This was my first ever pageant, and taking home the crown has been an incredible experience that shows the importance of putting yourself out there and embracing new opportunities.
I am currently a freshman at Indiana University, studying biology with the goal of becoming a pediatrician. My love for kids drives my passion for this career path. Alongside my studies, I am actively involved in several organizations. I am the Vice President and Co-Founder of OPOC, a diversity group, a member of the Unity Committee, and a dedicated participant of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America).
Being the 2024 Vigo County Fair Queen has allowed me to experience the fair in ways I never had before! I've had the chance to engage with the community, participate in various events, and meet so many wonderful people! One of my favorite memories is awarding the Round Robin Grand Champion Showman award to my 2nd runner up, Chloe! This program has truly been one of the best experiences of my life, and I am grateful for every moment. I truly believe this program is one of the best! If you are considering participating, I encourage you to get your application in. This is your chance to create your own experiences and leave a mark on our wonderful community!
Thank you for supporting the Vigo County Fair and the Queen Program!
Hi everyone! My name is Ava Armstrong and I am the reigning 2024 Miss Vigo County Fair Princess. I am 16 years old and a junior at Terre Haute South Vigo High School! I’m a 8 year 4-H member in the Horse and Pony Club where I serve as President and treasurer of the 4-H Junior Leaders. I’m also the Vice President of Females in Technology at my school, member of the Junior Department Club, and I’m the manager of the Terre Haute South Boys Basketball team! In my free time I enjoy working with kids and traveling with my family. A fun fact about me is I enjoy going to try the weekly selections at Crumbl Cookies. My future plans are to attend college to study medicine in hopes of becoming a pediatrician, as well as become a horse riding instructor!
During my time as your Princess I have made so many memories and friendships. I couldn't be more grateful for the amazing opportunity I've been given. Some of my favorite memories include fair week when I had the opportunity to compete in Round Robin and the Queen and Princess courts all came running together at the end and we had the biggest group hug making it an unforgettable moment. Another highlight was getting to meet all of the young kids who got so excited and started jumping up and down because they got to hug a Princess. The one thing that will always have a special place in my heart is getting to pass out ribbons to all of the kids that have worked so hard year round to get their animals in the show ring.
I could go on and on about why the Vigo County Fair is such a special place, but what also makes it a special place is the people who are seen at the fair every year. When kids go to the fair they can always expect to see a Princess or a Queen somewhere in the crowd. This makes the fair events special and memorable for them and their families. You could be the next person who they look forward to seeing at the fair!
As I continue to learn and grow each and every day there’s one thing that remains constant and that’s the love I have for this program and the people that help you along the way. This program helps teach you life lessons and gets you more involved in the community. I encourage you to try new things and reach beyond your limits. Who knows, stepping out of your comfort zone might just be the next step in becoming the next Miss Vigo County Fair Princess!
